  • Chronic wounds
  • Acute wounds
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Subacute wounds

Can the WoundPro™ be used in home care settings, or is it primarily for hospital use?
The WoundPro™ can be used in home care settings and is not limited to hospital use. Its portability, ease of use, and adjustable settings suit hospital and home care environments. Many patients receive effective wound care in the comfort of their homes with the WoundPro™ system under the guidance of healthcare professionals. However, it's essential to ensure that caregivers and patients receive proper training and support to use the system correctly and safely in a home care setting.
Are there any specific contraindications or patient conditions where the WoundPro™ should not be used?

When considering using the WoundPro™ Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) System, one must be aware of specific conditions and precautions to ensure safe and effective treatment.

Conditions where the WoundPro™ NPWT system is not recommended:

  • Malignant wounds
  • Untreated osteomyelitis
  • Non-enteric or unexplored fistulas
  • Wounds with necrotic tissue and eschar

Use after necessary steps:

  • It can be employed after necrotic tissue and complete eschar removal.

Cautionary measures:

  • Never use the WoundPro™ NPWT system over exposed blood vessels, organs, or bone.
  • Avoid placing the WoundPro™ dressings on anastomosis, sutured vessels, or exposed nerves.

Covering exposed areas:

  • When dealing with situations where blood vessels, organs, or bone are exposed, it is essential to take precautions. Before starting negative pressure therapy in such areas, it is crucial to provide a protective barrier by applying a thick layer of porous, non-adherent wound contact material.

Dressings and Wound Care

What is the interface with the wound?
For its dressing kits, Pensar Medical™ offers hydrophobic foam in various sizes to accommodate wounds. The dressing is placed directly at the wound site to facilitate negative pressure application and promote healing. We also supply hydrophilic foam and hydrophobic foam with silver for specialized care.
How often should the dressing be changed?
Dressings should typically be changed every 48 to 72 hours, with more frequent changes for infected wounds. The clinician can adjust the frequency based on wound progress and condition.
How do I apply the WoundPro™ dressings?

Please refer to the WoundPro™ User’s Manual for more information on applying the wound dressings.

Canister and Fluid Management

Does it have a cut-off mechanism for full canisters?
Yes, the WoundPro™ provides an alarm when the canister is nearing capacity and automatically shuts down the pump when the canister becomes full.
Does it have a one-way valve to prevent fluid backflow?
There is no need for a one-way valve, as the WoundPro™ system does not allow for backflow. A one-way valve is unnecessary because all exudate is trapped in the canister once it reaches there, preventing fluid from flowing back toward the patient.
Can you treat multiple wounds simultaneously with one machine?
Yes, you can treat up to two wounds simultaneously by using a Y-Connector with one WoundPro™ Control Unit. Treating more than two wounds simultaneously may be challenging due to pressure limitations and potential leaks.
How is undermining handled?
White hydrophilic foam dressings are typically used in undermined areas. The foam should have good absorption qualities, full drainage, low swelling, and superior tensile strength during removal.
How often do you handle fistulas?
Negative Pressure Therapy is contraindicated for use with non-enteric and unexplored fistulas. If considering the use of Negative Pressure Therapy involving enteric fistula, it is recommended to seek support from an expert clinician. Negative Pressure Therapy is not recommended or designed for fistula effluent management or pain containment but to aid wound healing in and around the fistula.
How is exposed tendon or bone handled?
When dealing with situations where blood vessels, organs, or bone are exposed, it is essential to take precautions. Before starting negative pressure therapy in such areas, it is crucial to provide a protective barrier by applying a thick layer of porous, non-adherent wound contact material.
Any recommendations for high bio-burden or infection?
Negative Pressure Therapy is contraindicated for untreated osteomyelitis. Frequent monitoring and dressing changes may be necessary for other infected wounds based on ongoing evaluation.
How does the WoundPro™ compare to other NPWT systems in terms of cost?
Pensar’s WoundPro™ and NPWT accessories are competitively priced for distributors and healthcare providers.
How is the device billed?
The WoundPro™ NPWT System is available for purchase or rental, with billing typically processed through the patient's insurance plan, subject to eligibility and coverage.
Are there any reimbursement or insurance considerations when using the WoundPro™ for patient care?
The WoundPro™ qualifies for standard negative pressure codes that are already established, ensuring that healthcare providers can seek reimbursement for both the care and necessary supplies.
What is the warranty and service coverage for the WoundPro™ system?

The warranty and service coverage for the WoundPro™ system typically includes 3 years of warranty coverage. Additionally, extended warranty options are available for those seeking extended protection and support.
